VEIKI-VNL Electric Large Laboratories Ltd. is an independent, accredited product testing laboratory and product certification office. In our testing laboratory, which has unique technical capabilities in our country, we carry out type tests and qualification tests of the devices and equipment that make up the electricity system. These tests guarantee the reliability of high-current systems, continuous energy supply, and the safety of people living near the network and those operating the system.
VEIKI-VNL Ltd. was founded in 1996, but the construction of laboratories and testing activities started in the 1950s, as the Department of Electrical Equipment of the state-owned VEIKI – Electricity Research Institute. Our testing according to the ISO/IEC 17025 standard and our product certification according to the ISO/IEC 17065 standard are supervised and regularly audited by the National Accreditation Authority (NAH), which cooperates with the international organizations EA, ILAC and IAF. We carry out our tests based on domestic and international standards, but we also have experience in testing according to numerous regulations of power utility companies and regional standards.
STL – Short-Circuit Testing Liaison
Our company is a member of STL - Short-circuit Testing Liaison, an international cooperation organization of short-circuit testing laboratories. STL currently has 12 globally recognized testing and certification institutes as members, whose task is to coordinate the interpretation of standard requirements, the uniform evaluation of test results, and the standardized presentation of test results to ensure that the successful or unsuccessful outcome of the test is independent of continents, nations, laboratories, and standard interpretation.

Our company operates a Quality Management (ISO 9001) and Environmental Management (ISO 14001) system certified by the Hungarian Standards Institution (MSZT). VEIKI-VNL Ltd. is a certified supplier of the Paks Nuclear Power Plant, several manufacturing companies, and accepted by many foreign electricity providers (NTDC, ADWEA, DEWA, TNB, National Grid UK, EnBW, Statnett, Fingrid, TenneT, ENEL, TRANSCO).
The electrical equipment tested in our laboratory: low-, medium-, and high-voltage devices and equipment, such as transformers, reactors, resistors, measuring transformers (current and voltage transformers), switchgears and controlgears, busbar trunking systems, compact prefabricated transformer stations, fuses, surge protection devices, cables and cable assemblies, overhead-line conductors and assemblies, insulators and insulator strings, power plant equipment, tools for live-line working, earthing and short-circuit devices, live-line fire extinguishers, protective clothing with arc protection capability...etc.

VEIKI-VNL Ltd. became a member of the DEKRA group in 2017, when the German-based DEKRA SE expanded its product testing and product certification services by acquiring our internationally recognized company.
Although DEKRA's history began in Germany in 1925 with an automotive inspection (Deutsche Kraftfahrzeug-Überwachungs-Verein - German Motor Vehicle Inspection Association), today DEKRA's worldwide service portfolio includes vehicle inspection (not present in Hungary), damage inspection (DEKRA Expert Ltd.), product testing (VEIKI-VNL Ltd.), environmental tests (DEKRA Akademie Ltd. - Testing Laboratory), consulting (not present in Hungary), management system certification (DEKRA Certification Ltd.), adult training (DEKRA Akademie Ltd.) and employment placement (DEKRA Arbeit Ltd.). The ISO/IEC 17025 accredited testing laboratory performs tests on distribution equipment, cables, enclosed busbars, and prefabricated transformer stations based on regional and international standards as well as individual customer requests.
